Rushil Patel
Grade 10 Student

Hello,
a bit about me:
I am a sophomore student at North Park in the IBT program. My freshmen year was an exciting but engulfing experience. The grade 9 school year helped me understand in which ways I can be effective at academics and enjoy the total high school experience. Joining multiple teams and clubs enhanced my school year and helped me make new friends.
In the first year of high school, I’ve realized that although academics should be your primary focus, being part of the school community is beneficial to your development as a person. So far, my favourite course has been civics. I enjoy civics class because it informs me on relevant issues, and the effect an individual can have on the world. My most challenging course is Math because I find following steps or procedures difficult. Albeit, I have realized that the key to succeeding in Math is to practice, and therefore have developed an organized after-school homework schedule.
In grade 9, I was part of the North Park DECA team, Junior Cricket Team, and Bantam Boys Volleyball Team. They all helped me make new friends and amazing memories. Being part of such clubs and teams made me feel that I was part of something that I could contribute to. In the future, I wish to get involved in clubs such as the SAC or Athletic Council.
All in all, my first year at North Park was an interesting one, and I plan on making the next three even more interesting by becoming more involved in the school community and focusing on my studies to attain my career goals.
